 I am pretty excited to say I have made 81 cross and crown blocks over the course of the year. They are ready to be packed up and sent to the UFO closet ( I mean spa vacation). I have a wonderful collection of civil war reproduction fabrics, and, I rarely use them. I am going to add the scraps into the regular scrap population, so, they might show up occasionally. I have no idea how I am going to assemble them to make a quilt. I was interested in working on precision piecing with these blocks. I think I can ...

I did a head count of the fish blocks for the year and I have 190 which is about half of what I need. I have the colors ready to cut from this years rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I think I will set this aside until next year and start making blocks. I bought the pattern kismet from quiltville of her fish quilt, and, will use that as my pattern for the top.

 I finished the blue star and crown blocks from the June rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I was a bit behind and dawdled finishing. I have at least cut the purple blocks for the July blocks, but, haven't started them.

I started the green blocks for star and crown a little late this month for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I only have 4 of them done, but, the other 4 are cut and ready to go. I need to dig out some background scraps. I am running low on those fabrics.

I  love the yellow/gold colors of civil war reproduction fabrics. This month for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy, I made 10 star and crown blocks as part of my ongoing project. I am making them using 2 inch strips. I am practicing better piecing with these blocks instead of rushing.

It was a buck a block from a store in Indy in 2014. I loved the colors and fabrics so much so that I bought the finishing kit, too. So, the monthly blocks were just the baskets. I am not sure why it has been an Ufo for so long, but, it needs finishing. I pressed and trimmed, and added the inner borders, and the outer border.

1. Rainbow scrap challenge - yellow/gold  I am working on my hole in the barn blocks. I didn't think I was going to add these this year, but, I did. SO, I am catching up red from January, and aqua from February.

I used adding machine tape to see if I like it. Yes, I did, but it was a pain in the neck, so, I thought I could eyeball 2 1/2 inches and just started sewing long strips. Much better.

This is the last Saturday of the month for the rainbow scrap challenge. I made the star and crown blocks in aqua. Again, I think some of them are just blue or green, but, they are the closest I could find in my civil war reproduction fabrics. Sprinkled in with the others they will be pretty. I think I have all the projects done in aqua.

Hopefully, I am at a guild sewing day today. I missed last month because of covid, but, I have a few projects I want to move along. I am thinking I will take full ...

We had a quick thunderstorm early Saturday morning, with a close lightening strike, that left us without power all day. It was a long day waiting for power to be restored wondering what we may have lost. We have been hit several times over the years and have had to replace all kinds of things. We were relieved that everything seemed ok, until, we tried to use the internet. Our box was fried. It has been interesting just how much we depend on our internet. Att said they would send someone Sunday, but, no one came. We were told at ...

I am starting to see what this wonky courthouse steps quilt will look like when finished. I am joining squares together in sections to make it easier to assemble. More here.
I have really enjoyed making this quilt in the evening when it is dark and cold. It adds a little bright. It is s free pattern from Bonnie Hunter at quiltvile.

I have my swap blocks finished for October. It wouldn't be that hard to just finish the year, if I stuck with it, but I feel behind on some other projects so I will leave them for now. I started this quilt here.

It's that time again - a new month - a new set of swap blocks to make.  These are some that I have received from my friends in the swap. I really enjoy making these blocks, and, I have thoroughly enjoyed swapping. The year will end soon enough and it will be time for the hard work of assembly to begin.
